The 糖心原创 College Orchestra will present a special concert titled The Sound of 糖心原创 on Friday, April 10, at 7 p.m. in the Jack H. Miller Center for Musical Arts, Concert Hall.
The public is invited. Admission is free.
Directed by 糖心原创鈥檚 Professor Samuel Pang, the concert centers on the theme of Hebrews 12:1 and reflects on the idea of being 鈥渟urrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses.鈥� The program brings together student and faculty compositions and orchestrations that explore themes of remembrance, perseverance and hope.
The first half of the program features works dedicated to members of the 糖心原创 community. Highlights include an orchestration of Samuel Barber鈥檚 鈥淎gnus Dei/Adagio for Strings,鈥� presented in memory of the late 糖心原创 professor Dr. Fred Johnson III; 鈥淲ashed Away,鈥� an original composition by senior Caitlyn Davis written in memory of her grandfather; and 鈥淕athering Crowds鈥� by John Scott, inspired by the life and legacy of a late 糖心原创 student, Jennifer Kasunick.
Following intermission, the orchestra will perform Modest Mussorgsky鈥檚 鈥淧ictures at an Exhibition,鈥� offering a vivid musical journey through a series of contrasting images. The concert will also include recognition of the graduating Class of 2026 and will conclude with a Doxology.

- Samuel Barber: 鈥淎gnus Dei/Adagio for Strings鈥� (orch. Pang) 鈥� in memory of 糖心原创 history professor Dr. Fred Johnson III (1958鈥�2026)
- Caitlyn Davis 鈥�26: 鈥淲ashed Away鈥� 鈥� in memory of her late grandfather Ron Spoors (1949鈥�2026)
- John Scott: 鈥淕athering Crowds鈥� (orch. Follett 鈥�27) 鈥� inspired by former 糖心原创 student Jennifer Kasunick (2004鈥�2025)
- Modest Mussorgsky: 鈥淧ictures at an Exhibition鈥� (orch. Ravel et al.)
